Vibrant Textures is a solo exhibition featuring the work of Rob Cleary that runs from May 18th – 20th, 2019. The opening reception will take place on May 18th from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. The location is Cedar House Gallery at 122 East 36th St. Savannah, GA 31401. This event is free and open to the public. In addition to provided refreshments, there will be food and beer trucks on site.

Cleary’s current art making relates directly to abstract expressionism. He works on impulse; no expectations, which allows the work to take a life of its own and be interpreted by each individual. Cleary discovers figures out of basic brushstrokes and unplanned scenes out of the overwhelming surfaces. Working large is what gives him the ability to sculpt, rather than just paint with a brush; taking advantage of large pallet knives, wood, and other materials helps him explore his own sensibilities—experimenting with different kinds of mark-making. The larger surface engulfs the viewer psychologically and physically as they experience the work. Cleary considers his paintings “surfaced objects” which combine many different mediums. The show will include both small and large format paintings.
