Jena Maki (b. 1997, Connecticut) is receiving a B.F.A. in painting, with a minor in Business Management and Entrepreneurship, this spring from the Savannah College of Art and Design, Savannah, Georgia. Her landscape paintings interpret New England scenery and the relationship we have created with nature and our environment. Her work has been exhibited previously throughout Connecticut as well as Vaucluse, France. She is currently working and exhibiting in Savannah, GA. This summer, Maki will be relocating her studio back up to Connecticut to continue her work.
INHABITANCE is a collection of works which explore the North East and the relationship we have created with our everyday surroundings. Maki recreates memories and experiences from her upbringing through imagined and familiar landscapes. Pausing and collecting specific moments in time to share with her audience, she paints knowing our personal ‘everyday’ is constantly changing. All work at the exhibition will be for sale. Come speak with the artist and have another glance at the work Saturday the 18th between 12 and 3 pm.
