Non-Fiction Gallery is pleased to announce forma, a two person show from Friday, November 4th until Sunday, November 6th, 2016. The exhibition features the work of emerging abstract artists Kristin Edens and Aoife Estes. The opening reception is Friday, November 4th from 6pm to 9pm. Join both artists for an informal gallery talk on Saturday, November 5th at 1pm. Both events are free and open to the public.
The latin word ‘forma’ means “for form’s sake, by way of formality.” Kristin Edens and Aoife Estes feature a variety of formal elements in their abstract paintings. Both artists balance the expression of the subconscious with the purposeful consideration of color, line and shape. Edens’ gestural marks and blind drawing techniques attempt to express indescribable emotions. In contrast to Edens’ achromatic brushstrokes, Estes uses a broad catalogue of color on organic laser cut shapes. Forma includes two unique perspectives on abstraction of the subconscious mind, through a collection of various shapes, forms, colors, lines, and compositions.
