Matthew King (b. 1981, Reno, NV) is from Atlanta, GA and is currently finishing his MFA degree in painting at the Savannah College of Art & Design in Savannah, GA. He has been an artist in residence at the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts in New York, New York for the past ten weeks. During this time, he has continued his investigations into a connection between the language and music of centuries-old hymn texts and abstract painting. This open studio event will feature several new paintings from this exploration.
