Visiting alumnus mentor, Thomas Dang Vu, will be giving a painting demo/workshop on Tuesday, April 28 in Alexander Hall, CR2 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.
Although some painting materials will be provided; to participate, bring a primed piece of paper or canvas and a few brushes. Thomas will demonstrate some of his techniques for beginning a painting, layering, and various application techniques and welcomes you to come paint along side him and learn through this hands on experience.
Born Đặng Vũ Thuấn Thomas in Saigon in 1970. Thomas left Vietnam during to the communist regime in Vietnam and immigrated to the United States in the mid 80’s. Upon graduating summa cum laude with a BFA in Painting from the Savannah College of Art and Design he moved to NYC where he has resided since 1994. Recently, his work was shown at the Maier Museum of Art in Lynchburg Virginia, One Art Space Gallery NYC, ISE Foundation and Museum NYC, Melvin Perterson Gallery at the University of Evansville and the Drawing Center Viewing Program.
