SCAD presented the fifth edition of deFINE ART, the university’s annual fine and contemporary art showcase. Taking place Feb. 18-21, 2014 at SCAD locations in Savannah and Atlanta, Georgia, and Hong Kong, the program featured artist Alfredo Jaar as honoree and keynote speaker, installation artist Theaster Gates as the Jacob and Gwendolyn Lawrence Foundation lecturer and a world premier performance by Jonah Bokaer. Among the featured lectures, screenings, performances and 20 exhibitions SCAD Savannah hosted over 40 artists, art world professionals and art critics including Jerry Saltz.

By all accounts this years event was unprecedented in its scale and scope providing SCAD’s fine art students with direct contact to work by a range of highly acclaimed professional artists, inspiring and challenging students across disciplines to push the boundaries of their creative practice. SCAD fine art majors also benefited from individual/group studio visits, class visits, the sale of their art work and secured internship opportunities.
