Chinese Brush Painting Workshop

This workshop introduces traditional Chinese brush painting techniques on rice paper, where variation in ink, color, line and texture are all achieved by brushstroke. SCAD Painting Professor Josh Yu will offer a lecture, demonstration and hands-on opportunity to work with special materials and techniques from Asia. Students will have the opportunity to learn more about SCAD Hong Kong, including academic courses and programs, student life, and the application process. This unique opportunity for students is sponsored by SCAD Study Abroad. Workshop is limited to 40 participants. Please email jyu@scad.edu to register in advance.
Chinese Seal Carving Demonstration

Originating 2000 years ago in China, seal carving started from practical use of authenticating government documents and has now evolved into a specialized art form. SCAD Painting Professor Josh Yu will give a brief overview of the history of seal carving, introduce materials and tools, and demonstrate the process of carving a seal from beginning to end. Some examples of carved seals will be on display as well. Students will have the opportunity to learn more about SCAD Hong Kong, including academic courses and programs, student life, and the application process.
